The chess fundamental objective is to capture the rival's king. In fact, the capture never happens, because the rival’s king is left “without escape"; it doesn't care where the rival moves his king, you will be able to capture him in the following movement. This situation is denominated "checkmate".
The white pieces begin. First a playe,r and then the other one, chooses one of the pieces and move it, following the rules of movement of that piece particularly.
As the purpose of the game it´s to capture the king, the players are forced to protect their kings to all coast. If a piece threatens to capture the opposing king (this will appear in the right’s chart showing the last movement of the opponent, followed by a sign +).It is said that the king is "in check" and his owner should make all the possible things to protect it immediately. In fact, it is illegal to make a movement that leaves the own king in check.
